Award for safety

Strong safety culture in Indonesia

Henkel Indonesia has received the ‘Zero Accident Award 2014’ from the East Java government for excellent safety record at its adhesive plant in Pasuruan.

The achievement is the result of a strong safety culture in the industrial adhesives plant. Regular safety, health and environmental protection (SHE) trainings are conducted to remind employees on safety procedures in the plant. Employees are also encouraged to do safety walkarounds in the plant at least twice a month, and suggest potential areas for improvement. Employees who are active in such safety reporting are recognized.

As a result, many SHE improvement projects were introduced, such as the modification of equipment and processes to reduce potential hazards at the workplace. These have led to a safer working environment, as the plant has clocked more than two million man hours without any lost time cases (LTC). An LTC is when the victim needs medical treatment or hospitalization and cannot get back to work after 24 hours.
