Strong safety culture in Indonesia

The achievement is the result of a strong safety culture in the industrial adhesives plant. Regular safety, health and environmental protection ‏(SHE) trainings are conducted to remind employees on safety procedures in the plant. Employees are also encouraged to do safety walkarounds in the plant at least twice a month, and suggest potential areas for improvement. Employees who are active in such safety reporting are recognized.

As a result, many SHE improvement projects were introduced, such as the modification of equipment and processes to reduce potential hazards at the workplace. These have led to a safer working environment, as the plant has clocked more than two million man hours without any lost time cases ‏(LTC). An LTC is when the victim needs medical treatment or hospitalization and cannot get back to work after 24 hours.
