Sustainability Ambassador School Outreach program

Promoting sustainability in Indonesia on World Earth Day

On World Earth Day 2016, Sustainability Ambassadors from Henkel Indonesia visited the Intercultural School of Bogor in Bogor to spread the message of sustainability.

Through role play, video, and coloring activity, the students learnt the concept of “Reduce–Reuse–Recycle”. The session was attended by 59 students, aged 2 to 14 years old.

Medis Barjana, Industrial Adhesives Technical Customer Service and Henkel Sustainability Ambassador, explained, “It is wonderful that we had this opportunity to teach simple sustainability habits to young children. The objective of the session was to help them understand the concept of sustainability, and motivate them to play a part in conserving the environment.”

Henkel’s Sustainability Ambassador School Outreach program was initiated in 2012 to inspire employees to engage even more intensively with the topic of sustainability. Since then, Henkel has trained around 6,200 ambassadors in 74 countries. As part of the program, the children go home and involve their parents and siblings in putting sustainability into practice, creating a multiplier effect in getting others to practice sustainable behavior.

World Earth Day is held globally on April 22 to raise awareness of environmental issues and encourage everyone to strive for a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable planet.
